Porter Chosen to Lead Guard

The Wyoming National Guard has a new leader.
Gen. Gregory Porter was sworn in as the next adjutant general of the Guard and promoted to the rank of major general at a change of command ceremony Thursday in Cheyenne.
Porter replaces Maj. Gen. Luke Reiner, who retired from the Wyoming National Guard and will take over leadership at the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Porter most recently served as the director of the joint staff at the Joint Force Headquarters in Cheyenne before his promotion.
Porter will be (was) one of several honored guests at a ceremony this morning at the Cody VFW, along with Governor Mark Gordon and the Chairman for the Wyoming Veterans Commission, Keith Davidson. The annual “Veterans Welcome Home” event offers gratitude to the men and women who have served in the military, in honor of the day in 1973 when soldiers who served in Vietnam would have returned to Wyoming.
