Private Cody Company Will Be Assisting in the Search for Missing Worland Woman

The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office has released their next plan of action in the search for missing Worland woman, Breanna Mitchell, who has still not been located.
Mitchell was last heard from on July 24, after her vehicle got stuck in the area of Nowater Road outside of Worland.
Sheriff Austin Brookwell posted to the department’s Facebook page, “At this time, there is a private company, Find-911 out of Cody, WY, that will assist Washakie County with searching out there before the final search.”
Brookwell continued, “This company has K-9s, a drone, and really advanced software to process the images the drone takes to hopefully get answers.”
The Sheriff’s Office has requested that people avoid the Nowater Road area Wednesday, August 9 and Thursday, August 10 as Find-911 will be working on locating Mitchell.
On Friday, August 11, the department will be doing a search in that area for Michell, as long as weather permits. Park County, Johnson County, and Hot Springs County’s Search and Rescue crews will be assisting with the search as well.
They are not requesting assistance from the public for this final search at this time.
The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office does understand that the public would like to help though and has asked that if people do come to the search on Friday, that they stay out of the way of Search and Rescue crews. They also asked for volunteers to bring water and to not get lost in the area as that is easy to do. They will not be coordinating with any civilian searchers.
The current weather conditions are supposed to be decent, but the weather in Wyoming can change quickly.
The department also informed the public that if Mitchell is still in the area, there is a high likelihood that this search will be a recovery, not a rescue. If anyone from the public comes across something that looks like human remains or that could be potential evidence, to not touch anything.
In that instance, they request to give dispatch coordinates to the exact location or find a Search and Rescue Unit nearby. There is not a specific area for civilians searchers, so it is up to the public to decide where they would like to go.
