Public Comment Sought for YNP Road Project

Written by on May 1, 2017

Yellowstone National Park wants to improve the road from Fishing Bridge to Indian Pond, and officials are asking for comments from the public on the project.

The 3.2 mile reconstruction project would include the road, associated parking areas and turnouts, Fishing Bridge, and Pelican Creek Bridge. Park officials say the project would make the road compliant with engineering safety standards, widen the road to the parkwide standard of 30-feet, repair or replace the deteriorated bridges, restore wetland functions, and improve roadway and parking efficiency.

If the proposed project is approved, there would be construction delays, but they would normally be limited to 30 minutes, although there may be some temporary road closures.

Public comments will be collected until May 26, on the Planning, Environment and Public Comment website. You may also hand deliver written comments to the Albright Visitor Center in Mammoth Hot Springs.
