Sage Creek Fire Contained Quickly

Written by on July 7, 2017

The cooperation of multiple agencies quickly contained a fire on July 5th near Sage Creek.
Agencies responded immediately to the call that came in mid-afternoon from someone who spotted smoke from a lightning-caused blaze 2 miles east of the Sage Creek cutoff road. Jerry Parker, administrator for Park County Fire District 2, says that the Cody fire department as well as the BLM fire engine were dispatched right away.
Parker says that the fire grew to about 40 acres, but was contained by about 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. He added that three units remained at the site of the fire yesterday mopping up – engines from the Cody Fire Department, the BLM, and the Forest Service worked together to put the fire out.
