Senator Mike Enzi’s work for children and families has received one of the highest congressional awards.
The National Head Start Association provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition and parent involvement services to low-income families. Their lifetime achievement award is given to members of Congress who have demonstrated their commitment to serving the nation’s underprivileged children and families and support the HeadStart program. They gave Senator Enzi the association’s highest congressional award on Tuesday, as he has made helping children a personal goal throughout his governmental career.
Enzi spoke on receiving the award. Quote ““I want to ensure that all children are better prepared – not only for success in school, but also for success later in life. “I’m deeply touched to receive this recognition and appreciated talking with folks who work every day to provide building blocks for our future leaders.” Unquote.
Enzi received this award for his leadership in the re-authorization of Head Start with the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007.
