Send Care Packages to Military Early This Holiday Season

The U.S. Postal Service is offering a reduced price for mail sent to military service members around the world during the holiday season – but it’s best to get those packages sent early.
Because thousands of men and women in the nation’s military and diplomatic corps are serving abroad during the holidays, the postal service points out that sending cards, letters, presents and care packages are a heartfelt way to support them.
The Postal Service offers a reduced price of $17.40 on its largest Priority Mail Flat Rate Box for mail sent to Air or Army Post Office, Fleet Post Office or Diplomatic Post Office destinations worldwide. The Postal Service is expected to process more than 16.2 million pounds of mail for these destinations this holiday season.
To ensure timely delivery of holiday wishes by Christmas, the Postal Service recommends that cards and packages be sent to military addresses overseas no later than December 11th for Cards, Letters, and Priority Mail Packages, and December 18th for Priority Mail Express Military Service.
Additionally, the Postal Service has created a free Military Care Kit based on the items most frequently requested by military families. The kit contains address labels, tape, boxes, and customs forms.
