“Shop With a Cop” This Afternoon in Cody

Written by on December 11, 2017

The Cody Wal-Mart will be visited by shopping cops and children this afternoon.
At 4:00 p.m., officers from the Park County and Big Horn County Sheriff’s departments, the Wyoming Highway Patrol, and Cody, Powell and Lovell Police will participate in the “Shop with a Cop” program at the Cody store.
According to a press release from the Park County Sheriff’s office, Shop with a Cop provides a fun filled day for children throughout the Big Horn Basin while creating positive relationships with law enforcement. This unique shopping experience assists children and creates a positive relationship with law enforcement that hopefully will last throughout their lives.
Using donations from Walmart and some private donors, officers from these departments will accompany a child in need, which have been selected by representatives from their school systems. The officers will take the kids on a Christmas shopping spree, in which they will shop for their families as well as themselves.
After the shopping, the children and their “partner for the day” will return to the Cody Law Enforcement Center where they will wrap their gifts and enjoy a pizza party, sponsored by Papa Murphy’s.
