Recently, a specific selection committee announced the ten total finalists – five boys and that same number of girls – for 2018’s edition come the Milward Simpson Outstanding High School Athlete Award in Wyoming here. This particular accolade is regarded as the top honor which this state’s graduated senior sportsters can get due to the fact they excelled by multiple athletics over all four years in their prep careers. It’s the 43rd annual prize that simply goes to Wyoming’s best overall 12th-grade athletes only. (Each of the quartet of high school sports classifications by this whole state are represented come the candidates; however, nobody is from this local Big Horn Basin area entirely.)
The boys handful of nominees are: Blayne Baker from the Class 4A Sheridan Broncs, Brett Brenton come 4A’s Natrona County HS Mustangs over Casper, Wyatt Peck by the 3A level’s Star Valley HS Braves in Afton, Haize Fornstrom on the 2A Pine Bluffs Hornets, and Danny Ramirez at the 1A Classification’s Kaycee Buckaroos.
Meanwhile, the girls finalists consist of: Class 4A’s Aubrey Frentheway at the Central HS Lady Indians come the capital city of Cheyenne as well as Madison Vinich by Casper’s Kelly Walsh HS Lady Trojans, Madison Hoopman to 3A’s Douglas Lady Bearcats, Grace Tanner on 2A’s Big Piney Lady Punchers, then Addie Stanley for 1A’s Little Snake River Valley HS Lady Rattlers in Baggs.
The duo of winners will be named at a luncheon over Saturday, June 16, here as far as Cody.
