Sleeping Giant Delays Opening

Although we’re heading into a changing weather pattern, it’s not enough to open the local ski hill on time.
Sleeping Giant Ski Area, located just east of the East Entrance to Yellowstone, had a banner year last winter, with the large snowfall that was received early in the season. While officials hoped to open the hill by this Friday, due to the recent dry weather, officials have made the decision to hold off for another week, in the hopes that more snow will fall in the next few days. That’s according to Bob Newsome, who is on the Yellowstone Recreations Foundation board.
More snow is expected at the East Entrance this weekend, with significant accumulation in the forecast. Sleeping Giant’s new opening date is expected to be December 22nd.
