Small Fire Up North Fork Yesterday

Written by on June 15, 2018

A report of a forest fire up the North Fork got the attention of local residents yesterday.
Fortunately, however, the fire was small and easily contained. That’s according to Park County Fire Marshal Sam Wilde. He says a dead tree on a river bottom about a half mile past Pahaska caught fire, but was reported immediately, and between Pahaska staff and the volunteer fire department, the fire was contained to around a tenth of an acre.
Wilde says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Wilde says the fire has been turned over to the Forest Service to monitor. He adds that the conditions in the area are still wet, so there is little danger of the fire spreading.
