The Paul Stock Aquatics and Recreation Center in Cody was filled with excitement Saturday as 28 teams competed to win prizes – and improve their community.
The second annual SPIN Cody event brought together dozens of participants and volunteers with a common cause – raise money for two major projects in Cody. The Cody Regional Health Foundation wants to purchase a new 3D mammography machine, and the Cody Recreation Foundation is working towards the installation of a splash pad feature at Mentock Park.
Annalea Avery with the Cody Regional Health Foundation says that the event on Saturday, in which participants rode spin bikes, netted over $55,000 dollars. She says over 360 individuals came out to support these foundations and cheer each other on.
Midway through the event, Cody Parks and Recreation Director Rick Manchester announced that due to the funds raised at the event, the Rec Foundation had reached its monetary goals for the splash pad.
The Top fundraising team prize went to the Power House Peddlers and the spirit award went to Crossfit Cody Globe Trotters. The most miles ridden for an individual participant went to Tanya Raile with Pinnacle Bank, followed by Quinn Rivera – who was on hand as a celebrity rider and coach.
Both Foundations expressed their gratitude for the generosity of their major sponsors, Rob and Michele Keith, Fran and Lenox Baker, Pinnacle Bank, and Becky Stern, along with the other organizations and individuals who donated to the cause.
