The Power of Thoughts

Written by on March 15, 2017

Most people don’t understand how important thoughts are! They influence every cell in your body – which is why it’s important to keep your thoughts positive. I’m Wendy Corr, with your Daily Wellness Tip!

Every time you have a thought, your brain releases chemicals. That’s how your brain works – you have a thought, an electrical transmission goes across your brain, and you become aware of what you’re thinking.

So when you have a mad thought, an unkind thought, a sad or cranky thought, your brain releases negative chemicals that make your body feel bad, and contribute to a wide range of health problems, including heart disease and high blood pressure.

Thoughts are powerful. They affect your heart rate. When you are embarrassed or scared, for example, your face might turn red, your heart might beat faster and your body temperature might increase. These are all indications that your mind and body are interconnected.

If we believe we aren’t going to feel better, we limit any possible solutions for becoming well. If we are caught up in a victim mentality and expect someone or something else to “fix” us, then we will never the take the necessary steps to improve our life.

But every time you have a good, happy, hopeful or kind thought, your brain releases chemicals that make your body feel good!

Positive thoughts can create healing effects in your body. Positive thinking has been scientifically proven to decrease levels of stress hormones.

Positive thoughts are energizing. When we develop the habit of thinking good thoughts, it empowers us to be accountable for our lives and allows us to create healthy lifestyle choices.

Remember, your thoughts don’t always tell the truth. So CHOOSE to focus on thoughts that make you feel good, not thoughts that make you feel lousy. Talk back to your negative thoughts! If you can correct them, you take away their power over you.
