A local civil rights group is inviting Wyoming’s Congressional Delegation, and local citizens, to a town hall meeting to discuss current issues.
Wyoming Rising Northwest, a non-partisan group of Park County citizens who are concerned about human rights, has invited the state’s three federal lawmakers, along with their field representatives, to a meeting at the Cody Library this Thursday, April 20, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Cindy Childs, one of the group’s organizers, says the meeting is open to the public.
Childs says that a specific topic of conversation that will be proposed by the group is the upcoming budget, in which they see many concerns about programs that are being cut, or that are set for a decrease in funding.
Wyoming Rising Northwest is a group that sprung out of the national women’s marches with a mission to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil liberties, and social justice. In a press release, the group noted that they are made up of citizens who believe in protecting the values on which our democracy was founded, and represents a broad spectrum of the community.
