Treasurer: Choose Lower Number Plates
Written by Andrew-Rossi on January 3, 2019
If you’re looking to purchase a new car or update your vehicle’s registration, the Park County Treasurer is asking you to consider choosing a lower number for your plates.
Barb Poley says that each year, her office reserves the numbers one through 1500 for trucks and one through 3000 for passenger vehicles in each new plate series – those plates are generally set aside for vehicle owners who have had those numbers previously. However, she says that they have a significant amount of those plates still in their stock, and would like to see those lower numbers back out on the streets.
Poley says that it does cost $8 to do a plate change, but encourages drivers to take advantage of the lower number series.
Poley also pointed out that in this new year, the new Wildlife Conservation license plate is now available on the WYDOT web site as a specialty plate. She says that you cannot order those at the courthouse, they must be purchased through the State of Wyoming. The specialty plates require an initial fee of $180, and an annual fee of $50.00.
