These credit unions are both located in Wyoming and have a long history of community support and partnership. The merger would combine UniWyo’s 36,000 members with Reliant’s 13,500 members and would result in an organization with  nearly “$700 million” of combined assets, which would make it the second largest credit union in the state of Wyoming.

According to a recent press release, the merged credit unions will operate under the UniWyo brand.

“Long-term growth and the ability to best serve the state of Wyoming has always been and will continue to be our goal. This merger will benefit our membership and employees, and will allow us to continue our long history of community involvement,” Steve Higginson, CEO of Reliant, says.

“UniWyo and Reliant share similar beliefs when it comes to charitable donations and giving back to the communities we serve,” Higginson adds.

UniWyo serves its members from three branches in Laramie and Cheyenne. Reliant, currently, serves its members from five branches in Casper, Cody, Glenrock, and Douglas. With the merger pending approval, UniWyo is seeking additional locations and an expansion of services to benefit its employees, members, and communities.

“UniWyo and Reliant’s missions are already similar and together we will maintain the notion of bettering people’s lives and always putting people first,” Dave Krause, CEO of UniWyo, says.

“We are incredibly excited to come together as one organization, to get to know all of our employees across all markets, and to reach more neighborhoods in Wyoming,” Krause says.

The proposed merger will require regulatory approval from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in addition to approval from Reliant members. The merger could become effective as early as 2023. Until the completion date, both organizations will continue to serve their respective members and operate normally.
