Warrior Soccer Wins Pinnacle Cup

The Worland Warriors Soccer team starts their season 3-0 with wins over Riverton, Buffalo, and Powell to win the Pinnacle Cup.

Worland was the host location for the 2022 Pinnacle Cup Jamboree.

Ten teams competed at the Jamboree : Lyman, Rawlins, Pinedale, Douglas, Powell, New Castle, Riverton, Torrington, Buffalo, and Worland.

The top three ranked teams in Wyoming 3A were in the tournament including number one ranked Powell, number two Worland, and number three Torrington.

The Warriors would open the brackets with Riverton.

With 3 goals from Senior Cole Venable.

A goal and 2 assists from Junior Court Gonsalez.

Senior Kolter Wyman with 2 assists as well.

The Warriors had 14 shots on goal.

Goal Keep Kade Weber had 4 saves.

The Warriors got a 4-0 win and would advance to face Buffalo Saturday morning.

Against Buffalo the Warriors would face a tough defense.

The Warriors had 16 shots on goal, 8 of those from Venable.

Worland came away with a score at the 11:15 mark of the first period from a corner kick by Gonsalez.

Senior Jorey Anderson would leap and get the header goal that would be enough to get the 1-0 win over Buffalo.

Kade Weber would end up with 2 saves .

The Warriors would next face the Wyoming 3A number 1 ranked Powell Panthers in the Pinnacle Cup Championship.

Worland had 7 shots on goal to Powell’s 6.

Keeper Weber would have 6 saves for the game.

The winning shot came from a Direct Kick from Venable at the 11:23 mark of the 1st half.

It would be enough for the win and the Championship.
