Warriors Fall In Buffalo

The Warriors are considered by most to be the best Wyoming 3A basketball team in the State. With a loss to Rawlins last Saturday the Warriors were looking for adjustments and a win against Buffalo Friday night.
The Worland defense held Buffalo to 61 points. Trouble was the Warriors only scored 56 of their own.
The opening period Mack Page would score 13 and the Warriors would open up with a 10-0 lead in the first 4 minutes of the period. Jorey Anderson hit two shoots from long range and Rudy Sanford would get his first three pointer.
The Buffalo Bison were lead in scoring by Coy Johnson in the first with 6 points. The first period ended with a Mack Page dunk and a 25-12 lead.
The second period would only see Page get one point off a free throw, but the Warrior offense was still rolling with two more 3’s from Rudy Sanford. Buffalo would add 15 points in the second period. The half would end with a 35-27 Warrior lead.
For the first time in the season Worland’s offense would sputter. Putting up 9 points in the third period. Buffalo ended the third period with 14 points and ending the period 44-41 Warrior lead.
Coy Johnson and Eli Patterson each finished with 16 points. Calvin Rule would foul out and Hunter Stone played nearly the entire 4th period with four fouls. Mack Page had 23 on the game. Rudy Sanford ended with 13. Anderson had 8. Sophomores Brock Douzanis and Court Gonzalez both had seven.
The Warriors would lose their second straight for the first time in two seasons. 61-56 to the Buffalo Bison. Worland should remain number one in the state after the weekend that saw Saturday’s game versus Thermopolis postponed due to weather.
Worland will play Lovell on Friday and Powell on Saturday. You can hear both the Warriors and Lady Warriors right here on KWOR 104.7FM/1340AM or online at mybighornbasin.com
