Warriors Win The Big Horn Basin Classic For The Third Year In A Row

For the third year in a row, the Worland Warrior Boys Basketball team win the Big Horn Basin Classic trophy.
This season’s tournament was held at Rocky Mountain High School in Cowley and at Powell High School.
11 teams competed Rocky Mountain, Lovell, Riverside, Wind River, Powell, Greybull, Burlington, Thermopolis, Wyoming Indian, Lander, and Worland.
Glenrock was invited but due to weather conditions and road closures, they weren’t able to compete.
Originally the Warriors were to face Glenrock in their first game at 4:30 pm on Friday instead, Worland played host team Rocky Mountain at 1:30 pm.
Worland won 78-39 over the Grizzlies.
With schedule difficulties, Worland was only able to get one game on Friday.
Saturday the Warriors would face a Conference opponent Lovell at Rocky Mountain High School at 12:30 pm.
The Warriors beat the Bulldogs 56-39 and would advance to the Tournament Championship.
The Wyoming 3A number 3 ranked Worland Warriors would travel to Powell to face the Wyoming 3A number 2 ranked Lander Valley Tigers.
Lander got to the Championship by beating Thermopolis 52-43, Wyoming Indian 77-65, and number 4 ranked Powell 54-46.
After a one-point lead at the end of the first in a period the Warriors had trailed by 11 Worland would not look back and get a 23-point win over Lander 66-43.
