Water Meeting Tuesday in Powell

The Bureau of Reclamation is inviting residents to come to a water information meeting Tuesday.
Mahonrai Williams, Chief of the Resources Management Division, says with the major runoff months coming soon, it’s a chance for people who rely on water for their recreation or for their livelihood, to get a sense of what to expect this year.
Williams says that the largest group of water users are irrigators in the Basin, with the Shoshone Irrigation project serving about 95,000 acres in the Powell, Cody and Deaver areas.
Williams adds that this year they are expecting well above average inflow, and have already increased releases from the Buffalo Bill Reservoir to make space for that anticipated runoff.
The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21st, at the Eagles Lodge in Powell.
