CODY’S INDOOR TRACK TEAM MADE THE TRIP OVER TO CASPER ON SATURDAY FOR THE NATRONA COUNTY INDOOR INVITE. BOTH THE BRONCS AND FILLIES WOULD FINISH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PACK WITH GRACE SHAFFER THE TOP PLACER, WINNING BOTH THE 55-METER HURDLES AND THE POLE VAULT.

THE CODY ALPINE SKI TEAM HOSTED THEIR OWN EVENT UP IN RED LODGE, MONTANA OVER THE WEEKEND. DUE TO THE WEATHER THE SLALOM RACE ON FRIDAY WAS NOT COMPLETE AND ONLY ONE RUN O THE GIANT SLALOM WAS RAN SATURDAY. THE FILLIES ASPEN KALKOWSKI AND NICOLE WAGLER BOTH FINISHED TOP TEN AS DID THE BRONCS STERLING BANKS AND JAMES DAVIS.

THE YELLOWSTONE QUAKE WERE BACK ON THE ICE OVER THE WEEKEND MAKING A TRIP UP TO BOZEMAN TO FACE-OFF WITH THE ICE DOGS AND WOULD COME AWAY EMPTY HANDED LOSING 3-1.

BOTH NORTHWEST COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS WERE BACK IN ACTION ON SATURDAY HOSTING GILLETTE COLLEGE. BOTH TEAMS WOULD COME AWAY WITH LOSSES.

THE WYOMING COWGIRLS BATTLED BACK FROM AN EIGHT-POINT DEFICIT TO TAKE A FOURTH-QUARTER LEAD, BUT THEY WERE PUSHED TO OVERTIME BY THE NEW MEXICO LOBOS (13-12, 4-8 MW), WHERE UNM TOOK A 74-71 WIN OVER WYOMING (11-11, 7-6 MW). AFTER WINNING THREE-STRAIGHT, THE COWGIRLS HAVE NOW LOST TWO IN A ROW.

THE WYOMING COWBOYS DROPPED A 97-68 CONTEST ON THE ROAD TO NEW MEXICO ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO LOBOS, WHO WELCOMED BACK TWO STARTERS TO THE LINEUP SCORED 18 POINTS ON SECOND CHANCES FOR THE AFTERNOON.

AN ILLNESS WILL KEEP ONE OF WYOMING’S STARTERS OUT OF ACTION INDEFINITELY.

SOPHOMORE FORWARD HUNTER THOMPSON IS DEALING WITH A BOUT OF MONONUCLEOSIS. THOMPSON, A PINE BLUFFS NATIVE, STARTED EACH OF THE COWBOYS’ FIRST 23 GAMES BUT DIDN’T PLAY IN UW’S 67-62 LOSS TO BOISE STATE ON TUESDAY AND DIDN’T TRAVEL WITH THE TEAM SATURDAY TO NEW MEXICO.

A TEAM SPOKESMAN SAID THOMPSON COULD POSSIBLY RETURN BEFORE THE END OF THE SEASON. UW HAS FIVE GAMES LEFT BEFORE THE MOUNTAIN WEST TOURNAMENT BEGINS MARCH 4 IN LAS VEGAS.

THOMPSON IS AVERAGING 7.8 POINTS AND 4.4 REBOUNDS ON THE SEASON. HE’S AVERAGING 8.1 POINTS IN MW PLAY.
