Wild West Balloon Fest Is Back Friday, July 22nd

The Wild West Balloon Fest returns Friday, July 22nd – Sunday, July 24th from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Mentock Park, 901 Blackburn Street.
Drawing ballooners and flight enthusiasts from all over the country, this unique festival is one of Cody’s legendary attractions. Balloons will launch at dawn in Mentock Park.
Ballooning is a historic form of human aviation. Historians have concluded that the first tethered balloon flight with humans on board, after people tried experimenting with unmanned flights using animals, took place on October 19, 1783 in Paris, France.
According to the group’s Facebook page, “Wild West Balloon Fest is back!! We are looking forward to bringing back some hot air balloons for a weekend of family fun!!”
Just a reminder, all flights are weather permitting. A note for folks new to the area, Cody serves as one of the major gateways to Yellowstone National Park (50 miles West), and it is home to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center as well as the Cody Nite Rodeo
