TUESDAY NIGHT THE WORLAND BASKETBALL TEAMS HIT THE HARDWOOD FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON. WORLAND WAS THE ONLY SCHOOL IN CLASS 3A WHO HAD YET TO PLAY A GAME.

WELCOMING THE BUFFALO BASKETBALL TEAMS TO WORLAND THE WARRIORS AND LADY WARRIORS WERE READY TO DO BATTLE. IN THE FIRST GAME OF THE DOUBLE HEADER THE LADY WARRIORS CAME OUT STRONG LEADING 13-8 AFTER ONE QUARTER BUT THANKS TO A 14-0 LATE IN THE SECOND QUARTER THE LADY BISON FOUND THEMSELVES UP AT HALFTIME 27-24.

AFTER A BACK-AND-FORTH THIRD QUARTER THE LADY WARRIORS USED A STRONG FOURTH OUTSCORING BUFFALO BY SIX AND THANKS TO LATE FREE THROWS HUNG ON FOR THE 57-54 VICTORY.

LEADING THE WAY FOR THE LADY WARRIORS WAS TYMBERLYNN CRIPPEN WITH 14 POINTS. SHE KNOCKED IN TWO 3-POINTERS AND WENT 4-6 FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE.DENALI JONES ADDED 12 FOR WORLAND WHO STARTS THE SEASON 1-0.

IN THE NIGHTCAP RUDY SANFORD LED THE WAY FOR THE WORLAND BOYS TEAM SCORING 13 OF HIS 22 POINTS IN THE SECOND QUARTER EN ROUTE TO A 73-50 VICTORY.

THE WARRIORS FOUND THEMSELVES DOWN BY THREE AT THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER BUT OUTCORED THE BISON BY 15 IN THE SECOND QUARTER AND NEVER LOOKED BACK.

THE WARRIORS HAD 10 DIFFERENT PLAYERS SCORE A POINT, FOUR PLAYERS SCORED IN DOUBLE FIGURES, LED BY SANFORD’S 22. MACK PAGE ADDED 15 WHILE BROCK DOUZENIS PITCHED IN 13 OFF THE BENCH FOR THE WARRIORS WHO ALSO BEGIN THE SEASON WITH A WIN.
