Wyoming Waterways Great Place to View Eclipse

Written by on August 16, 2017

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is preparing for an increase in the number of boats on the water next Monday.
Some of the most popular boating destinations in Wyoming lie in the path of the total solar eclipse that will be visible Monday, according to Game and Fish officials. They anticipate that waterways around the state will be crowded, especially in places that fall in the path of totality like Boysen reservoir.
Game and Fish staff will be out on lakes and reservoirs during the eclipse to keep people safe and to enforce boating laws. Aaron Kerr, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department law enforcement coordinator in Casper, says the main thing is to pay extra attention to other boats and boat traffic. He also pointed out that everyone on a boat is required to have a personal flotation device, and all boats need an aquatic invasive species decal to launch in Wyoming waters.
