Xanterra: All Operations Suspended Until May 21st

Written by on March 20, 2020

Xanterra has seen the national shutdowns and raised the country to an even more extreme step.

In an announcement yesterday, Xanterra announced it is suspending all of its operations throughout the entirety of its national park facilities from Friday, March 20th, until Tuesday, May 21st. That means that all services at Canyon Lodge & Cabins, Grant Village, Lake Yellowstone Hotel & Cabins, Lake Lodge Cabins, Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel & Cabins, Old Faithful Inn, Old Faithful Lodge Cabins, Old Faithful Snow Lodge, Roosevelt Lodge Cabins and several incorporated restaurants and campgrounds in Yellowstone will not be open for business until the very end of May. For a point of reference, the East Entrance of Yellowstone usually opens to the public on May 4th.

This might be one of the first major predictors of how Summer 2020 will look for Cody and several communities adjacent to the affected parks, which include the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Zion, and Glacier. Several visitor centers in national parks across the country are already closed in the attempt to quell coronavirus. The Albright Visitor Center at Mammoth Hot Springs was one of these, announcing its temporary closure earlier this week.

The good news? This might ensure less traffic across Fishing Bridge in May which could give a slight increase in speed to the construction that will continue and finish during this season.
