YRA Flights Mostly Full This Summer

Flights in and out of Cody have been near capacity this summer, and over three quarters of those flying YRA are taking Delta flights.
Just this last week, 1246 people boarded flights at Yellowstone Regional Airport – but less than 300 of those were on United flights, and that’s due to the limited contract that United has with the local airport.
Bucky Hall with the Cody Yellowstone Air Service group, or CYAIR, says that United has not shown much interest in creating a solid relationship with Yellowstone Regional Airport, despite the solid numbers shown in the summer departures.
SkyWest airlines, which provides the Delta flights through Cody, has been the recipient of the Essential Air Service contract from the federal government, so Hall says no negotiations are necessary with Delta. However, CYAIR board members have been in negotiations for several years with United Airlines to provide extra service to Cody. They were successful in securing extra flights during the summer tourist season, but that schedule will end before fall.
