Art Show Kicks Off Tonight

An annual event that brings a lot of people – and dollars – to Cody is set to kick off this evening.
The opening reception for the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale is tonight at 6 p.m. at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and the public is invited to a free showing of the live and silent auction items.
Karen McWhorter, the Scarlett Curator of Western American Art in the Whitney Museum at the Center of the West, told KODI’s Partyline audience this week that the opening reception will show off the talents of the dozens of artists who have contributed to this year’s show.
The reception will be this evening at 6 p.m. in the John Bunker Sands Gallery at the Center of the West, and admission to the reception is free to the public.
The Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale will hang in the Gallery until the week of Rendezvous Royale, a celebration of artists and artisans that brings visitors from all over the country. This year’s event will culminate in the live auction on September 21st, the quick draw the next morning, and the Patron’s Ball on Saturday evening, the 22nd. Last year’s art show brought in over a million dollars to the artists, the Center of the West, and the Chamber of Commerce.
