Christmas Parade in Downtown Cody Kicks Off the Season

Despite a chilly, damp night, hundreds of people lined Sheridan Avenue in downtown Cody for the 30th annual Cody Cowboy Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade on Saturday night.

As people gathered on Sheridan Avenue while the sun set behind Rattlesnake and Cedar mountains, lights, hung on lamp posts, twinkled in the chilly air, giving off a festive glow to  the evening, closing a successful Small Business Saturday.

29 Businesses and church organizations from across the Big Horn Basin were represented in floats of all shapes and sizes with festive lights, brightly colored costumes as trucks, tractors and RVs made their slow crawl along the black ribbon of Sheridan Avenue.

Tina Hoebelheinrich, the CEO of the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce commented “ This is the largest parade we have sent down the street in my seven years here.  There was amazing variety and we are so grateful for everyone who put so much time and effort into this year.  Especially to the Cody Events Committee for everything they do.”

The parade finished with Santa Claus waving to the crowd while wishing everyone a merry Christmas and kicking off the Button Bash.  Consumers along Sheridan Avenue can purchase a button and have a chance at winning Cody Bucks.
