Cody Athletics Weekend Outlook

It’s hard to believe but the Wyoming High School Spring Sports season is already beginning to wind down. While their may be less total events don’t let that fool ya cause the competition is really ramping up.

The Cody and area Soccer and Softball teams will play in their final regular season games of the season this weekend while track teams across the Cowboy State will be participating in Regional Meets.

Today, a look at where Cody athletics will be at this weekend, starting with Soccer.

The final Wyopreps Coaches and Media Soccer Poll of the regular season has been released.

Starting with a look at the 3A girls rankings.

The Cody Fillies, to no one’s surprise, were a unanimous choice for the No. 1 spot. The Fillies are currently undefeated on the season, a perfect 12-0. They are followed by Lander and Riverton at two and three with Buffalo fourth and Mountain View fifth.

As for the 3A boys side…

Worland holds steady at No. 1 with Powell a close second. Torrington moved back to third with Lander at four. The Cody Broncs jumped back into the rankings and sit fifth.

The Cody Fillies will look to close out the regular season undefeated, this weekend, while the Broncs look to continue their winning ways. They’ve won three straight and sit at 7-5 on the season, 7-4 in conference play.

It’s senior night for Cody Soccer, today, as they play host to Buffalo before traveling to Worland to conclude the regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday. Today’s games show the Fillies playing at 3pm with the Broncs to follow. Tomorrow, it’s the Fillies at 12 noon, followed by the Broncs.

The Cody Fillies softball team, ranked No. 5 in the latest Wyopreps poll, will too, conclude the regular season portion of their schedule this weekend.

The Fillies are home for the final games of their season.

Today, they play host host to Rock Springs with first pitch scheduled for 2pm.

Tomorrow, they take on Green River with first pitch scheduled for 11am.

The Filly Softball team is currently 15-3 on the season, 8-0 in league play. They have already locked up the top spot in the conference and will be the No. 1 seed out of the West at next week’s State Tournament.

Meanwhile, the Cody Track teams will begin post-season play this weekend as they’ll be in Casper for the 4A West Regional Meet. The top eight in individual events and the top four in relays will qualify for State.

Teams that Cody will be competing against, at Natrona High School, are Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Natrona County, Riverton, Rock Springs and Star Valley.

The Regional Meet takes place today and tomorrow.

And last but not least, the Cody Cubs are back in action this weekend as they being to get their season underway. The Cubs, 2-0 on the season, travel to Riverton on Saturday for a double header. Those games will be broadcast live on KODI with first pitch underway at 12 noon.
