Containment on Terek Fire Expected Today

Written by on July 13, 2018

Crews are wrapping up work on the Terek Fire northeast of Worland.
Cindy Wertz with the Bureau of Land Management says that the fire was 85 percent contained as of yesterday, and full perimeter containment is expected today.
Wertz says that the amount of acreage burned has been mapped at just over 42,000 acres. She says the decrease in the acreage determined burned is due to GPS information gathered by ground crews and helicopter operations, used to more accurately map and define the fire area.
Officials from the Bureau of Land Management expressed their thanks on their Facebook page to the individuals, communities and businesses for the support provided to firefighters. They posted photos of homemade cookies, chips, granola bars and other treats that were brought to the workers during the active fire suppression efforts.
Myles Richards, Incident Commander Trainee with the BLM, pointed out that multiple agencies and public support came together to aid in the suppression of the Terek Fire, and expressed the agency’s gratitude to the Forest Service and local counties for providing resources to help aid suppression efforts.
