Eagles Lodge Wall Crumbles in Basin

Written by on March 8, 2017

Employees at the Overland Express in Basin got a bit of a surprise yesterday morning when the wall across the street began to crumble.

The brick façade of the Eagles Lodge in Basin yesterday morning fell off into the street at around 8:30 a.m. Basin Police Chief Chris Kamp-bell says that the north side of the building has been bowing out for the last couple of years and there were some structural concerns.

The building has been in use daily, but no one was in the building when it fell. Kamp-bell added that there was no traffic on the street, no pedestrians on the street, and no one was injured.

Kampbell said town dump trucks and loaders cleaned the rubble up in about a half an hour, but the street will continue to be blocked off to all traffic for safety reasons.

He added that they have contacted the fire marshal’s office in Worland, who has deemed the building uninhabitable. Kampbell noted that a structural engineer could be there by Friday.
