Healing with Whole Foods
Written by Andrew-Rossi on September 6, 2018
We live in a toxic world. The products we use, the plastic we handle, the foods we eat all contribute to the toxic load that our bodies must filter every day. How can we help keep our bodies functioning at their best when they are bogged down by junk everywhere we turn? I’m Wendy Corr, and in today’s Wellness Tip, I’m going to show you how eating whole foods can improve your health and give your system a fighting chance!
A TOXIN means any substance that causes excess stress to the body. They can include environmental threats, chemicals, and radiation. But research shows that the biggest culprit for toxic exposure is processed foods, which are full of chemicals and additives that can create cravings, weight gain, poor digestion and food allergies, just for starters. Unless the liver and other detoxification organs are able to deal with this toxic load, they end up being stored in the fat cells of our liver and brain.
The number one thing you can do to help decrease your toxic load is to eat whole foods instead of processed junk! When you eat foods like fresh veggies and fruits, grass fed or wild meat, nuts and seeds and drink lots of pure water, you fill your body with nutrients that help to ward off the effects of toxins, without introducing new ones to your system!
Other benefits of eating whole foods include losing your cravings. Believe me when I say… when you ELIMINATE the junk, you ELIMINATE the cravings!! Processed foods are chemically engineered to create cravings. It’s not about a lack of willpower. The odds are truly stacked against you with processed foods.
Additionally, eating whole foods helps to improve your mood, because many of the chemicals found in processed foods negatively affect your brain. You’ll have less risk for heart disease because of the extra fiber in your diet; and you’ll have stronger bones because the body can absorb nutrients from vegetables more readily than they can from animal based sources like dairy.
On top of all that, you’ll save money, because you won’t be spending a bunch of dollars on overprocessed name brand foods!
