NWC Trapper Sports

Earlier this May, the spring part of Powell’s Northwest College 2017-18 rodeo slate wrapped up. Since the “regular season” closed, those particular Trappers have been getting ready for this year’s College National Finals Rodeo at Casper on June 10-16.
Going into the “postseason,” the NWC cowboys are second out of nine men’s programs by the Big Sky Region about the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association while the cowgirls hold sixth among eight women’s teams. (It’s the Montana State University Bobcat squads of Bozeman who each sit No. 1 as far as the regional standings at the moment.) Individually for those Trapper ‘pokes: a trio of sophomores lead some categories. Caleb Sloan McMillan is tops over the men’s all-around as well as bull riding; Bubba Aaron Boots of St. Anthony, ID, paces the team roping event by header; plus, Matthew Lynn Williams from Rexburg, ID, has first place among the team ropers on the heeler side.
The CNFR, which is celebrating 20 years among the Oil City of Wyoming, will be put on from the Casper Events Center.
