State Officials Praise Park County

Two state elected officials braved the weather Friday to come to Cody to celebrate a financial accomplishment by Park County staff.
State Treasurer Mark Gordon and State Auditor Cindie Cloud met with the Park County Commissioners Friday afternoon as a show of support for the County’s efforts in repaying a state loan worth $2.5 million dollars – and they did it 20 years earlier than it was due.
Gordon says that the county’s effort sets a good example for the rest of the state.
Cloud agreed, adding that the county showed great fiscal responsibility in making this loan repayment a priority.
The original loans were granted by the state to close out three landfills in the County. The final project was completed early this year, and Commissioners say that they directed the staff to find a way to repay the loan as quickly as possible. The commissioners expressed gratitude to the staff for making the action possible.
