WHS Girls Soccer Win One Lose One This Weekend

Lady Warrior Soccer would brave the elements this weekend in Lyman and Mountain View.

On Friday afternoon the Worland High School Soccer teams would get news that seemed on course for this Spring season.

With the projection of snow in the forecast for the Bridger Valley around 4:30pm the decision was made to move the schedule around for the soccer matches.

The Boys were scheduled to play after the girls at 5pm.

Instead the boys match was to be moved to 3pm.

Now the factor of who would play where.

The girls had already arrived at Lyman High School for their match.

The Worland Boys match was then moved to Lyman Middle school and be played as soon as the teams could get it started.

With the girls staying at Lyman High School and the schedule on time.

Their match against Lyman could proceed.

The match had plenty of ramifications for both teams. As the winner would likely secure the 4th seed in the West Conference of 3A Wyoming Girls Soccer.

Lyman had loss to Cody, Lander, and Mountain View and had beaten Pinedale and Powell.

The Lady Warriors had loss to Cody, Lander, and Mountain View and had beaten Pinedale they will face Powell Monday.

Without a Reginal Tournament in Soccer the Conference records determine which 4 teams head to State.

Rivers Carrol would start the scoring for the Lady Warriors with a goal at the 37:15 mark.

Yahaira Aguayo would score at the 12:05 mark in the first half.

Sophomore Carrol would score the next 3 goals the last with 30.6 seconds remaining in the half.

The Lady Warriors would go on to get the win over Lyman 5-o with 30 shots on goal and nearly 90% of the match played on the Worland half of the pitch.

That put the Lady Warriors record at 3-4 overall and 1-3 in Conference.

Saturday in Mountain View would be chilly and windy with a “feels like” temperature of 28 degrees.

The match would be played in the Mountain View City Park with a portable scoreboard.

The Mountain View Lady Buffs would score the first two goals in the match and lead at halftime 2-0

The second half would see Senior Morgan Wagner score early with the equalizer goal scored by Yahaira Aguayo with the assists from Carrol.

The match was tied 2-2 late into the match which included 2 yellow cards.

With little time left in a match looking like it was headed to Overtime Mountain View would get the go ahead goal from Emalee Bugas.

The Lady Buffs would get the 3-2 Conference win sending the Lady Warriors to a 3-5 overall record/ 1-4 in Conference.

The Lady Warriors will be in Powell Monday.
