Winter Storm Headed to Wyoming

Written by on January 19, 2018

Better put your winter gear where you can reach it easily, because another winter storm is headed our way.
Tim Troutman with the National Weather Service sent out a notice yesterday that a winter storm will begin affecting western Wyoming today, and will spread heavy snow eastward through Saturday and into early Sunday.
A Winter Storm Watch and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect in parts of the state, with total accumulation varying from less than one inch in Cody and Greybull, to a foot in the Casper and Evanston regions.
Troutman says this event will be the first widespread potential for heavy snow across a large portion of the state since around mid-December. He says the worst conditions are expected between Green River and Casper where a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late tonight through Saturday night.
The National Weather Service warns that slick and snow packed roads can be expected over mountain passes in the northwest part of the state beginning today, and difficult driving conditions will develop in the central and south central parts of Wyoming.
