Worland vs Douglas Football Celebrate A Golden Anniversary

The Worland Warrior vs Douglas Bearcat football series goes back 100 years.

The first time these two schools squared off was October 21st, 1922.

Douglas won the game 19-13 over the Warriors.

It would be nearly 30 years before they would see each other again on the Gridiron.

This time in the 1952  Wyoming High School State Football Championship, Worland would win the Title with a 26-13 win over the Bearcats.

Seven years later they would meet again, not only once, but twice in the 1959 season.

Douglas would win the first game 14-6 in Douglas.

Four weeks later the teams would battle for another Wyoming State Championship.

The Warriors would again prevail and take a 25-0 win and a second Title from the Bearcats.

Worland and Douglas would see each other two more times in the playoffs, but it wouldn’t be for 45 years, until 2004.

Douglas would win that match-up 19-8.

2009 would be the last time these two teams played in a playoff game against each other.

Douglas would beat the warriors 56-14.

Worland and Douglas have played each other every year since 2018.

Douglas won in 2018 42-15.

In 2019 the Warriors would get a win and beat Douglas 19-7.

2020 saw the Bearcats beat Worland 49-7.

Last season the Warriors lost a close one 16-7 at home against the Bearcats.

The Worland vs Douglas Rivalry has been played 22 times in 100 years with the Warriors winning 12 of those games.

This game on Friday will mark the Golden Anniversary of the Football Match-up of Worland against Douglas.

Worlands Brock Douzenis has 17 receptions for 264 yards and 4 touchdowns and is the 3rd ranked Wide Receiver in Wyoming 3A Football.

Warrior Court Gonsalez has 13 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown and is the 6th ranked Wide Receiver in Wyoming 3A.

The top-ranked Defensive player in the game is Worlands Senior Linebacker Rugar Mascaro totaling 27 tackles 1 of those for a loss and a blocked kick ranking him 7th overall in Wyoming 3A Football.

Right behind Rugar is Sophomore Linebacker Roman Para with 26 total tackles and a pass block. Para is the 20th-ranked defender in Wyoming 3A Football.

Both Mascaro and Para average nearly 9 tackles per game.

Douglas’s leading defender is number 20 Luke Skeen who has 25 tackles averaging just over 8 tackles per game and a pass block.

The second leading defender for the Bearcats is also their Quarterback, Tray Rinn averages just over 3 tackles per contest with 10 total tackles, Rinn has 2 interceptions for the season.
