Worland Warriors Face Powell Panthers At Home

The 2022 Worland Warrior Football Season begins Friday at 7 PM at Warrior Stadium.

Here are some stats, facts, and nuggets to chew on.

The Powell Panthers finished the 2020 season 5-4 overall.

The Panther’s wins for the season were a 29-13 win over Worland, Powell also beat Lander, Douglas, Green River, and Evanston.

Powell lost to Cody, Star Valley, Jackson, and an opening round playoff loss to the Douglas Bearcats 14-10.

Worland finished 2020 with a 4-5 record with wins over Green River, Lander, Rawlins, and Riverton.

The Warrior’s losses were to Powell, Cody, Buffalo, Douglas, and a 40-7 first-round playoff loss to Cody.

Powell lost seven All-State and All-Conference starters to Graduation.

The Panthers will no longer have two-time All-State and Shrine Bowl selection Linebacker and Running Back Toran Graham.

Reed Smith who averaged 101.7 yards per game on the ground for Powell last season and was an All-State and All-Conference selection Graduated.

Powell is also replacing their entire offensive and defensive lines.

The Warriors lose All-State, All-Conference, and Shrine Bowl selection Safety Jorey Anderson as well as Shrine Bowl partner and 214 tackles over two seasons Linebacker Aaron Carver.

Powell returns their Quarterback Jhett Schwahn who averaged 130.8 yards passing per game. He threw 7 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

The Panthers were fifth in rushing in Wyoming 3A football last season averaging 166.9 yards per game. Eighth in passing with 130.8 yards per game. Seventh overall on Offense averaging 297.7 yards per game, and sixth on Defense giving up 292.0 yards per game.

The Warriors return All-State Quarterback Kade weber who threw for 184.2 yards per game, he also had 17 touchdowns with 7 interceptions. 2019 All-State selection Wide Receiver Brock Douzenis returns for his Senior season.

Worland finished ninth in rushing in Wyoming 3A football averaging 99.2 yards per game, and third in passing averaging 187.2 yards per game.

The Warriors were eighth overall in offense averaging 286.4 yards per contest.

The Warriors haven’t hosted a playoff game since 2009.
