Wyoming Promise Petition Ending
Written by Andrew-Rossi on September 12, 2018
A ballot petition to allow Wyoming voters to join 19 states in overturning the Citizens United Supreme Court Decision is coming to a close.
There are only a few weeks left until the petition has to be turned over to the Wyoming Secretary of State.
The organization Wyoming Promise is behind the petition that was started last year, with the stated goal of calling for a 28th Amendment to the Constitution to overturn Citizens United, a 2010 Supreme Court decision that opened the door for corporations to spend unlimited amounts in direct support of political candidates, and the creation of Super political action committees.
The Northern Wyoming Daily News reports that local volunteers have been gathering signatures for the petition to appear on the 2020 ballot. The group must obtain 15 percent of the voting population, per county, in 16 of the 23 counties in Wyoming.
